“I colori raccontano…”
Il lavoro dell’artista persiana Roshanak Khalilian è fatto di colori: pennellate e sfumature cromatiche; rossi, blu, gialli e oro accostati l’uno all’altro come parole su una pagina bianca. Sono racconti di materia e di luce; narrano storie di amore, passione, paura e smarrimento. Un caleidoscopio di emozioni che non sono altro che la somma della vita di ognuno di noi, che ricerca e trova sulla tela un pezzo di sé.
Rifacendosi e fondendo la tradizione orientale a quella occidentale Khalilian è interprete di un’arte che vuole farsi portavoce dei sentimenti umani, dando spesso una visione di speranza; come nella serie “All that gold” in cui l’oro, elemento da sempre utilizzato nell’arte fin dall’antichità, è scelto non solo per il suo significato di ricchezza e potere ma anche per il suo essere incorruttibile, perenne, un punto fisso, quasi a rassicurare ognuno di noi dell’esistenza di qualcosa di certo, di positivo. Nei dipinti astratti di Roshanak possiamo ravvisare la sacralità di Rothko e la “Joie de vivre” di Matisse; la tradizione persiana ed un uso della materia assolutamente contemporaneo; il tutto accompagnato da una grande attenzione per la composizione e ad un senso del bello, che è già di per sé un valore.
The work of the Persian artist Roshanak Khalilian is made of colors: brushstrokes and shades of color; red, blue, yellow and gold close to each other as words on a white page. They are stories of matter and light; they tell stories of love, passion, fear, and losing. A kaleidoscope of emotions that are nothing but the sum of the lives of each of us, who searches and finds on the canvas a piece of self.
Reflecting and merging Eastern and Western tradition Khalilian is an artist who wants to become a spokesman for human feelings, often giving a vision of hope; as in the “All That Gold” series in which gold, an element that has always been used in art since antiquity, is chosen not only for its meaning of wealth and power but also for its impermanent perennial point fixed, almost to reassure each of us of the existence of something certain, positive. In Roshanak’s abstract paintings we can see Rothko’s sacredness and Matisse’s “Joie de vivre”; the Persian tradition and the use of absolutely contemporary material; all accompanied by great attention to composition and a sense of beauty, which is already of value to itself.
Biografia
Roshanak Khalilian iraniana di nascita e residente in Svizzera, ha studiato in Iran e continua gli studi in storia dell’arte attualmente con la Open University of UK. Ha vissuto e viaggiato per tutta l’ Europa e il Medio Oriente e ora vive in Svizzera con la sua famiglia. Lei crede che i colori possano raccontare delle favole: l’astrazione è il suo modo di impiegarli e il suo stile ritrae l’universalità della natura umana nelle sue caratteristiche immediate e semplicistiche. La pittura è stata lo strumento per combinare le forme e i colori dell’arte orientale e occidentale per illustrare l’ intera natura umana.
Iranian born Swiss artist who studied in Iran for her BA and still continues her studies in Art and its Histories with Open university of UK. She has lived and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and Europe, and now lives in Switzerland with her family. Different cultures and their interpretations of happiness and life has been her main inspiration to pursue art as means of demonstrating emotions. She believes that colors can tell tales. Abstraction is her language to employ the colors, shapes with different mediums and techniques to transfer the captivated fragments of human nature and its positive attitudes. She has developed her own mix media in addition to her ink works titled as “Mind Games”. Her style portrays the universality of human nature and their simplistic and immediate characteristics, painting has been her tools to combine eastern and western art forms and colors to illustrate the collective human nature.
