Del resto per Carlo Ferrari, artista reggiano classe 1946, il legame con l’attualità non è mai stato secondario, anche nel momento in cui esso era perseguito attraverso sovrapposizioni semantiche e trasferimenti di significato.

L’ultimo ghiaccio – Acquerelli
Questa serie di acquerelli nasce a seguito di un ciclo pittorico dedicato al tema degli iceberg, ma presto
viene a distaccarsene per la peculiarità della resa su carta, pur condividendone lo spirito ed il messaggio.
This series of watercolors was born as a result of a pictorial series dedicated to the theme of icebergs, but
soon became detached from it due to the peculiarity of the rendering on paper, while sharing its spirit
and message.
Les fleurs – Luxe, calme et volupté
I dipinti di Ferrari rimandano alla perfezione tecnica ed estetica degli antichi maestri, arricchita da una visione più contemporanea, che non rinuncia, però, in nome della tecnica ad essere espressione e portavoce di emozioni e sentimenti. I suoi papaveri, amarillis e calle sono descritti in tutta la loro fragile e seducente corporeità: ammalianti e sfacciati sembrano effondere nell’aria i loro penetranti effluvi.
Ferrari’s paintings refer to the technical and aesthetic perfection of the Old Masters, enriched by a more contemporary vision, which does not , however, give up being an expression and spokesperson for emotions and feelings, in the name of technique. His poppies, amaryllis and calla lilies are described in all their fragile and seductive corporeality : bewitching and cheeky, they seem to spread their penetrating scents in the air.
Biografia
Carlo Ferrari nato a Massenzatico di Reggio Emilia nel 1946, di padre Svizzero e madre Italiana. Terminati gli studi comincia a frequentare stimati pittori e scultori della città, studiando tecniche del colore ad olio, in particolare “la velatura”. Nel 1968 apre un atelier a Reggio Emilia, iniziando così questa lunga avventura, di studio e di pittura, che spazierà dal paesaggio fiammingo, a Rubens, a Turner, a Poussin, poi Caravaggio, e tanti altri maestri del colore.
Ha esposto le sue opere in spazi pubblici e privati in Italia e all’estero.
Ferrari è uno dei pochissimi artisti del panorama della pittura contemporanea che utilizza i materiali cari ai maestri delle epoche passate, curando dall’ossatura delle tele (rigorosamente di lino) e delle tavole, alla ricerca di raffinati colori e rari pigmenti naturali fino allo studio dei leganti pittorici, dagli oli di cartamo a quelli di papavero ed alle resine, che venivano utilizzate nella pittura fiamminga. L’attuale interesse pittorico è rivolto allo studio della luce che può emanare il pigmento, per riflessione, sempre attraverso le velature.

Carlo Ferrari was born in Massenzatico, Reggio Emilia in 1946, a Swiss father and Italian mother. Completed his studies he began to frequent the city’s esteemed painters and sculptors, studying techniques of oil paint, especially the “haze”.
In 1968 he opened an atelier in Via Roma, Reggio Emilia.
He showed his paintings in public and private places in Italy an d abroad.
Ferrari is one of the very few artists of the contemporary painting scene who uses the materials dear to the Old Masters, taking care of the frames of the canvases (scrictly of linen) and of the boards, in search of refined colors and rare natural pigments up to the study of pictorial binders , from safflower to poppy oils and resins , that were used in Flemish painting. The current pictorial interest is aimed at the study of the light that the pigment can emanate, by reflection, always through the glazes.
